Penang street art is a major attraction for tourists to explore George Town in recent years. This UNESCO World Heritage city perfectly combines historical buildings with creative graffiti, especially on the walls of alleys in the city, where you can see surprising paintings and interactive installations everywhere. These works are not only a background for taking photos, but also a microcosm of Penang's multicultural and living scenery.
The most famous street art series comes from Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic, who created a series of murals in 2012 under the project "Mirrors George Town", including the classic "Little Girl on a Bicycle" and "Boy on a Motorcycle", which instantly turned ordinary walls into a hot spot for travelers to stop and take pictures.
In addition to paintings, there are many wire sculptures on the streets, which depict the local history and stories of Penang in a humorous way, which is another interesting way to explore. It is recommended to rent a bicycle or walk through the alleys, such as Armenian Street, Cannon Street and Chulia Street, which are the areas with the highest art density.
📍Recommended locations: Armenian Street, Cannon Street, Muntri Street
🕰️Open all day (outdoor public space)
💡Reminder: Popular murals often require queuing to take photos, it is recommended to go early in the morning or in the evening to avoid the crowds
