The place is Anjung Gurney Char Koay Teow, and it truly delivered that iconic Penang street food experience. The moment I walked through the food court, I could already smell the familiar smoky aroma—that wok hei!

I ordered a plate of their signature char koay teow and watched it cooked fresh right in front of me. Flat rice noodles, prawns, egg, and bean sprouts all tossed in high heat—every bite was full of flavour and just the right amount of spice.

The portion was generous, and the prawns were fresh and juicy. What stood out most was the charred aroma and balanced seasoning—it wasn’t overly oily, and the noodles had that slight chewy bite that made it so satisfying.
