A symbol of the Goto Islands, this 315-meter-high mountain boasts a gentle slope and is easy to climb. ⛰️
In May 2023, it was selected as one of the "Top 100 Grassland Villages to Preserve for the Future"! Contrary to its majestic name, Onidake, with its soft, rounded shape, makes it hard to imagine it as a volcano that once erupted. However, the baumkuchen-like geological layers at the base of Onidake make this clear! It's also known as "Ondake." I heard from the inn where I was staying that this was a great sunrise spot, so I set off around 5am and started trekking. 🥾 It was quite cold in the mountains in the morning, so bringing a blanket was a great idea. 🥺🤍🤍
There were clouds, but the view was beautiful, completely different from the daytime. ☀️
