The Perfect Start or End to Your Iceland Trip: Convenient Routes
The Blue Lagoon is conveniently located halfway between Keflavik International Airport (KEF), Iceland's main international airport, and the capital, Reykjavik, making it a very efficient way to travel. I visited the Blue Lagoon immediately after arriving in Iceland with my European Travel Grant, and it was a great way to immediately relieve the fatigue from my long flight, giving me a refreshing start to my trip. While not as centrally located as Bratislava Castle, the excellent shuttle service connecting the airport and the capital made getting around effortless.
Many travelers also visit the Blue Lagoon before their final day of departure to warm up and refresh themselves before heading to the airport. In short, it's the perfect spot for planning your Iceland itinerary. Even on a chilly October day, a dip in the warm lagoon left me feeling energized. Because it's so close to the airport, you can enjoy a spa treatment and then board your flight without having to worry about finding accommodations, which is a practical benefit. If you want to save time on a complex journey through several European cities without missing out on a unique experience, we highly recommend scheduling the Blue Lagoon at the beginning or end of your Icelandic itinerary.
