#Guangzhou Attractions

The Sacred Heart Cathedral is not only an important place of the Catholic Diocese of Guangzhou, but also one of the landmark buildings of Guangzhou. It has attracted countless tourists and believers with its unique Gothic architectural style.

The construction of the Stone Chamber Sacred Heart Cathedral began in 1863 and took 25 years to complete. It was built entirely of granite, hence the name "Stone Chamber". The architectural style of the church combines Gothic and Romanesque features, with twin spires soaring into the sky, exquisitely carved exterior, and gorgeous interior decoration, filled with a strong religious atmosphere. The church's bell tower is 58.5 meters high. Whenever the bell rings, it echoes in the surrounding streets and alleys, giving people a solemn and dignified feeling.

As one of the most magnificent twin-spire Gothic buildings in existence in the country and one of the four all-stone Gothic church buildings in the world, the Stone Chamber Sacred Heart Cathedral not only demonstrates superb architectural skills, but also witnesses the changes in the modern history of Guangzhou and even China. Today, it has become an important tourist attraction, attracting visitors from all over the world.
