A Must-Visit: Guangzhou's Sacred Heart Cathedral

The trend of Hong Kong residents traveling north continues. If you've almost exhausted your trips to Shenzhen and want to avoid the crowds, why not consider Guangzhou?

Many people might know that the Sacred Heart Cathedral is one of the only four all-stone Gothic churches in the world. But did you know that Guangzhou doesn't produce granite? So where did these stones come from? Hong Kong! The church was built using granite quarried from Ngau Tau Kok and Cha Kwo Ling in Kowloon, Hong Kong. These stones were transported to Guangzhou by sailboat, then manually chiseled, hoisted, and bonded. When you visit, take a closer look—architecture is living history, allowing us to experience the past in the present.

From West Kowloon Station, you can take a high-speed train directly to Guangzhou East. From there, take Metro Line 1 to Dongshankou Station, transfer to Line 6, and get off at Yide Station. Exit A and walk straight along Yide Road for about five minutes to reach the cathedral. The route is not complicated and is definitely worth a visit.
