Taxodium distichum, also known as bald cypress, is a deciduous tree that can grow up to 25 to 50 meters tall. It has a beautiful shape and its feathery leaves are extremely elegant. The bald cypress is green in spring, turns yellow in autumn, and becomes bright red in winter, before finally turning reddish-brown. In winter, the bald cypress looks like a burning flame. If you miss the beauty of this season, you will have to wait a year to see it again.
Lihu Park
1. Overview
Lihu Park is located in Zengcheng District, Guangzhou, and was formerly known as Gualv Lake. It is the largest public park in the area, covering a total area of about 400 hectares. The park boasts unique mountain and water landscapes, with forests to the north and a lakeside flower sea to the south. It combines a bird paradise, fishing paradise, rural scenery, and wetland functions. The park features the "Eight Scenic Spots of Lihu", which are: Wen Yun Chang Di, Lihu Bay, Liu An Wen Ying, Ye Qu Xi Gu, Romantic Flower Sea, Jing Shui Chang Lang, Shan Lin Greenway, and Li Ying Die Cui. Visitors can spend a whole day exploring the park.
2. Transportation
• By car: Navigate to "Lihu Park" to reach the destination.
• By public transportation: Take Metro Line 21 to Zengcheng Square Station, then transfer to Bus No. 10, 5, or 77 to Lihu Park.
3. Photo Spots
• The row of bald cypress trees by Lihu, along with the nearby orange-yellow grass and distant evergreen trees, create a stunning contrast. Under the sunlight, their shadows are reflected on the mirror-like river, resembling a vibrant oil painting.
• "Lonely Tree": On the slope of the large lawn, take photos from the bottom of the slope upwards, or from the side at an angle where the two trees overlap.
• Dead Tree by the Lake: Located by the lake, it is easy to find with accurate positioning. On cloudy days, it can create a sense of melancholy. There are many people, so post-processing is needed for photos without people.
• Lihu Sunset: Watch the sunset by the lake next to the dead tree, where the breeze creates golden reflections on the lake.
• Lihu Flower Sea: Near Wanshou Zen Temple, one section of the greenway around the lake is filled with flowers.
• Viewing Platform: Located on the north side of Xincheng Avenue, offering a wide view of the lake.
• Lawn, Lake, Sunset: On the bridge opposite the North Gate 1 of Zengcheng No. 1 Middle School.
• Boardwalk in the Lake: Near the viewing platform on Lixin Road, with the other entrance by the dead tree by the lake.
4. Hiking/Cycling
• Greenway around the lake: 11.3 km long, suitable for hiking and cycling.
5. Picnic/Camping
• Lawn: There are many lawns around the lake, with convenient parking.
