Here’s a snack-sized guide to exploring Guangzhou with a dash of Sydney vibes—featuring next-level night views, epic eats, and a cinema hack you won’t want to miss 🌃🍲
Must-See Place: Canton Tower
Canton Tower is straight-up an architectural legend in Guangzhou (Address: No.222 West Yuejiang Road, Zhuhai District). From July 5-Aug 24, the tower opens 09:30–22:30 (last entry 22:00) weekdays and 09:00–22:30 weekends. Entry is ¥135—but here’s my insider MVP tip: head to the top-floor cinema and buy a movie ticket; you’ll skip the regular tower entrance fee entirely 🎬. Movie night with a skyline? Yes please.
Nighttime at the tower is the ultimate cityscape experience—snap Insta-worthy shots of futuristic lights and the Pearl River below. After that, hit up local hotpot at Tanyu nearby, where you’ll grill, steam, and dunk everything from seafood to melt-in-your-mouth meat. Don’t skip their dessert bar—a perfect sweet ending.
Getting Around: Metro Line 3 gets you straight to Canton Tower Station—super fast, cheap, and easy. Taxi or Didi also work, but traffic at night can be brutal.
Food & Drinks: Try Tanyu’s spicy fish, classic beef slices, and go wild with their aquatic products. Their drinks menu is endless, so explore beyond soda!
Key Destination Tips: Cashless is king—use Alipay or WeChat everywhere. Summer gets hot and humid, so dress light and recharge in the tower’s AC zones! For Sydney travelers, the metro system here is just as seamless—you’ll feel right at home.
