Laozhanggou

Laozhanggou is located on the side of County Road 404 in Fengyuandian Township, Guyuan County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. It is a free attraction known for its beautiful natural scenery and wild off-road activities. About 1 kilometer from Provincial Road 404, there is an independent boulder between two mountains, which looks like a giant's footprint from a distance. The name Laozhanggou comes from this.
Laozhanggou is located on the Bashang Plateau, where ravines are densely distributed, green mountains stand tall on both sides, and the gully is full of gravel. A stream flows slowly from the valley, sometimes visible and sometimes hidden. Clear springs flow in the gully, and meadows coexist with forests on the slopes. During the rainy season, the area is often reshaped by flash floods. This is also the source of the Heihe River.
The gully features famous natural sights such as Hero Slope and Big Footprint, making it a popular destination for off-road enthusiasts from all over the country.
Laozhanggou is undeveloped and open to the public for free.
There is no public transportation available, so it is recommended to drive there.
As it is far from villages and towns, it is advisable to bring food and drinks for emergencies.
