Hiking Hwawangsan, Sweaty, Scenic, and So Worth It

#summervacay So I decided to hit up Hwawangsan for a hike, and wow, totally underrated. The trail starts off chill, but don’t be fooled... it definitely makes you work for those views. Think stairs, rocks, more stairs, and the occasional “why am I doing this?” moment. But once you’re up there? Insane. You get this wide open view that just stretches forever, mountains, valleys, tiny little villages. Super peaceful, especially if you find a quiet spot to just sit and take it all in.
The hike itself isn’t super long, maybe 2–3 hours round trip depending on your pace, but bring water and snacks unless you wanna regret life halfway up. Also, wear real shoes. Trust me. I saw someone try it in sandals and... bad idea.
Overall, if you're looking for a half-day nature escape with some solid leg-burn and awesome views, Hwawangsan hits the spot. Not touristy, just pure, quiet mountain vibes. 10/10 would hike again.
