Traveling to Snow Town Alone

Snow Town is over 300 km from Harbin (about 5 hours by car) and less than 200 km from Mudanjiang.
Transportation: You can travel between Snow Town and Harbin by public transportation. There are tourist buses between Harbin and Snow Town (CNY 100 one way).
There are also tourist buses to Harbin, Changting Town, and Mudanjiang, and to Dunhua Railway Station and Changbai Mountain Scenic Area. From Dunhua, you can take a high-speed train to Jilin, Shenyang, Beijing, and other cities.
Attractions: Xueyun Street, Dream Home, the boardwalk, and the theater.
Snow Town is a village. Admission is CNY 120 per person.
The mushroom-shaped houses in online photos are in Dream Home, a small attraction. Tickets are about CNY 150, or CNY 300 with an Errenzhuan show. Bangchui Mountain Observation Deck and the boardwalk are free and offer views of Dream Home. Tickets are not worth the price.
At night, you can watch an Errenzhuan show at the theater or a song and dance show on Xueyun Street.
Food: Local food is limited and expensive. The specialties are iron pot stew and Northeastern Chinese cuisine. About CNY 150 per person.
Weather: December and January are snowy and beautiful. Wear thick, warm clothes and a thick down jacket.
Accommodation: There are family inns where you can sleep on a kang (a traditional heated bed). It's warm in winter. Standard rooms start at CNY 200.
