Weekend in Hakata – Noodles, Shrines & Sky-High Views

#cityplaybook

Looking for a weekend trip that blends good food, city vibes, and a bit of tradition? Hakata’s got you covered. This lively district in Fukuoka is known for its welcoming energy, legendary ramen, and easy access to both modern spots and cultural gems.

I checked into Miyako Hotel Hakata—right by the station and super relaxing. The rooftop spa and city views alone made it worth the stay.

For a little sightseeing, I headed to the Port Tower. It’s not super famous, but the views over the bay are surprisingly great—and there were hardly any crowds.

Of course, no trip to Hakata is complete without ramen. I went to Shin-Shin, a local favorite with creamy tonkotsu broth and melt-in-your-mouth chashu. Honestly, I’m still thinking about it.

On my second day, I took a short trip out to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. The peaceful path lined with trees and red torii gates was the perfect way to wrap up the weekend.

Why I recommend Hakata:
・You can go from steaming ramen bowls to serene shrines in one short train ride
・It’s a compact, traveler-friendly city that’s full of flavor and charm
