Climbing Owakudani in Hakone, Japan

Owakudani:大涌谷 Owakudani is a crater that was formed by a large-scale steam explosion about 3,000 years ago. It is located on Mt. Hakone in Hakone-cho, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is called Hell Valley or Great Hell. Owakudani is the trace of a crater that was formed when the Hakone Kamiyama volcano erupted twice, about 3,100 years ago and 2,900 years ago. It also erupted recently in 2015. It is currently partially closed to the public.
