Owakudani Valley, an active volcano

This is a volcanic crater from thousands of years ago. It is still hot and steamy. Some areas are hot springs. You have to take the cable car to see the view of the valley that is still hot. Another highlight is to see Mount Fuji from a high angle, which is very beautiful.

When you come here, you have to try the black eggs. They are made by soaking eggs in hot springs with sulfur minerals. Soak regular eggs until the shells are black. It is believed that eating 1 egg will increase your life by 7 years. It tastes like regular eggs but has a slight sulfur smell. People here will dip the eggs in salt and eat them.
