Our leisurely walk through Feilai Feng, the mystical limestone peak beside Lingyin Temple, felt like stepping into an ancient Buddhist dreamscape. Towering cliffs, draped in velvety moss and twisting vines, cradle over 470 weathered stone carvings of Buddhas, bodhisattvas, and guardian deities—some serene, some playful, all whispering secrets from the 10th to 14th centuries.Sunlight filters through the trees, dappling the grottoes and hidden niches where tiny, lichen-kissed statues peek out like shy spirits. The highlight are the laughing Maitreya Buddha, his belly rounded by centuries of wind and rain, and the ethereal Guanyin carvings draped in flowing stone robes.
Practical notes: Feilai Feng requires a separate entrance ticket from Lingyin Temple, and the site opens at 6:30 AM,arrive early to wander the tranquil paths before tour groups descend!
