The ancient town of Yaoba in Luzhou has a long history, dating back to the Northern Song Dynasty, flourishing during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was the essential path from ancient Jiangyang to the Yelang Kingdom, known as the 'Sichuan-Guizhou Corridor' and the 'Ancient Tea and Salt Road'; it gathers the historical culture and ancient folk customs of Sichuan and Guizhou provinces, forming the unique culture of ancient towns in western China. It is acclaimed as the 'living fossil of ancient residences in southern Sichuan'.
