A Comprehensive Review of Ningxia's Helan Mountains Anmo Hotel (The Good and The Bad)

As a hotel that positions itself as "wild luxury," Anmo Hotel does have its own unique characteristics. The main selling points, as advertised, are the view of the Helan Mountains from the back door and the vast vineyards in front. I followed the trend and visited during the off-season (mainly because the peak season prices are too high for me).

Here are some of its highlights:
✅Great surrounding environment: Backed by the Helan Mountains, facing vineyards (grapes 🍇 are only available in summer), with the Five Lakes crossing nearby and Helan Mountain rock paintings scenic area not far away. Overall, the scenery is quite beautiful.
✅Good room hardware: The rooms are spacious and the facilities are currently in good condition, especially the wellness center and activity center.
✅Nice interior decoration: There are a few beautiful spiral staircases, an outdoor restaurant against the mountains ⛰️, and a wine tasting center.
✅Plenty of activities: If you bring children, you can participate in several activities, such as handicrafts, stargazing 🔭, etc.
✅Some animals 🦒: Small sheep 🐑, ostriches, ducks, and the like are at the end of the vineyard, where you can feed and interact with them.

Now, let's talk about the downsides:
❌It's called "wild luxury" because it's really a bit remote. It's an hour's drive from downtown Yinchuan and more than ten kilometers from the nearest Helan rock paintings.
❌When there are no grapes in the vineyard, opening the window reveals a large expanse of yellow earth, which isn't particularly attractive.
❌Some activities are not cheap. It's best to ask about the price before participating.
❌The quality of the food is average. When I went, there weren't many people. I had the set menu, and the overall taste didn't quite justify the room price.

In summary, if you enjoy relaxing at the hotel, admiring mountain views, or looking for a leisurely getaway with kids, it's a good choice during the off-season. During peak season, when it's crowded and the prices are a bit outrageous, the experience might not be as good.
