Hengyang is located in the middle of Hunan Province, in the Yangtze River Basin. It has a superior geographical location and convenient transportation. As the second largest city in Hunan Province, Hengyang is not only the political, economic, cultural, and transportation center of Hunan Province, but also an important military fortress and commercial hub in the south.
Natural Scenery
1. Mount Heng
Mount Heng is one of the Five Great Mountains of China and is known as the "Unique Beauty of the South." The mountain has unique peaks, beautiful scenery, and is green all year round, making it a paradise for nature lovers. Mount Heng is not only famous for its steep mountains and magnificent natural scenery, but also for its rich cultural connotations and long history. Along the winding ancient mountain path, you can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and feel the grandeur of nature. When you reach the top of the mountain, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of Hengyang City, which is refreshing.
2. Hengyang Lake and Bixia Lake

1. Shigu Town
Shigu Town is a historical and cultural town in Hunan Province, preserving many ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, such as Shigu Temple and Wenshu Pavilion. There are also many traditional handicraft shops in the town, where you can taste authentic Hunan handicrafts. Shigu Town is especially beautiful at night, with bright lights and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great place for walking and taking photos.
2. Zhonglie Temple
Zhonglie Temple is one of the earliest and largest anti-Japanese war memorials in China, and the only large-scale anti-Japanese war memorial cemetery preserved by the National Government on the mainland. It is built on the mountain, symmetrical on both sides, with distinct layers, and has five buildings along the central axis. When you enter Zhonglie Temple, you can see the unique "July 7th Monument" and feel the traces left by the war-torn years.
Food Culture
Hengyang has a rich food culture, mainly based on Hunan's traditional Xiang cuisine. Every year on the third day of the third lunar month, Hengyang holds traditional dragon boat races.
