Nanyue Grand Temple

#chinatravel

We entered Nanyue Grand Temple through its towering gates, and immediately felt the weight of centuries in the air. The courtyards were wide and quiet, with red walls, aged cypress trees, and incense smoke rising slowly into the sky. Despite its size, the temple felt calm not crowded or overwhelming, just spacious and steady.

Inside, stone steps led from one hall to another, each more serene than the last. We watched people bow in silence, light incense, or sit beneath the eaves in quiet thought. The temple didn’t try to impress with grandeur it invited stillness. It felt like a place meant for reflection, where the outside world could be left at the gate.
