As a seasoned traveler who brings kids to Saihanba every autumn,
I sincerely recommend this as the top choice for family autumn viewing.
Fewer people, beautiful scenery, and not tiring.

🚗【4-Day Leisure Route】
𝐷𝑎𝑦 1: Beijing → Mechanical Forest Farm
• About 4-5 hours driving, enjoy the changing autumn colors along the way
• Stay near Mechanical Forest Farm (many accommodation options, convenient dining)
𝐷𝑎𝑦 2: Colorful Mountain → General’s Pond
✔️ Colorful Mountain: Take panoramic photos from the viewing platform, no need to hike down with kids
✔️ General’s Pond: Arrive before 4 PM! Watch the horses wading in the water, very spectacular
(Stroller-friendly, 20-minute walk to the lake)
𝐷𝑎𝑦 3: Royal Deer Park → Panlong Grand Canyon → Nameless Mountain Sunset
✔️ Royal Deer Park: Bring carrots to feed the deer (kids love it!)
✔️ Panlong Grand Canyon: View from a distance, no need to go down with kids
✔️ Nameless Mountain: A local secret spot for sunset viewing
𝐷𝑎𝑦 4: Return trip + Wild trail exploration
• Park along Qisai Road to find wild trails
• Let the kids step on thick fallen leaves, the "crunch" sound is so healing
🏡【Accommodation Tested】
💰 Budget: Farmhouses, Home Inn Huayi (choose those with heating and air conditioning)
💰 Comfortable: Saihan Lake Hotel, Best Junlan
💡 Key point: Cleanliness + sufficient heating are must-haves!
📌【Parent-Child Exclusive Tips】
• Clothing: Thermal pants + down jacket are standard! We encountered heavy snow last National Day
• Gear: Thermos + sunglasses are must-bring, windproof and sun protection both covered
• Safety: Open flames are strictly prohibited in the forest area, check the car fire extinguisher
• Bonus: Visit Ulan Butong on the way (separate ticket 120 RMB/person)
🎒【Must-See for Kids】
✅ Stroller-friendly: General’s Pond is fully accessible with a stroller
✅ Interactive experiences: Feeding deer, stepping on leaves, finding pine cones
✅ Relaxed pace: 2-3 spots per day, no rushing
There’s no amusement park here, but nature offers the best classroom.
Bring your kids to collect this golden autumn!
