Koko-en
Visiting Himeji Castle, you must buy a package that includes Koko-en, which is very cost-effective. Koko-en covers a vast area and consists of nine gardens, each with a different pond and spring style.
Koko-en is a Japanese garden built in 1992 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the city system. These nine gardens are all restored to the original house ruins built in 1618. They change with the seasons and are full of highlights.
The planning of Koko-en was designed and supervised by Professor Nakamura Moto of Kyoto University. It uses the existing houses and road layout, as well as the woods and squares along the way. It consists of nine large and small gardens. It is a strolling garden connected by ponds and streams. Its biggest feature is the background of the world heritage and national treasure Himeji Castle.
