Himeji Kokoen is a Japanese garden located in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, west of Himeji Castle. It opened in 1992 and was built on the site of the former Himeji Castle West Palace. Combining historical background with modern garden aesthetics, it is one of the attractions not to be missed when traveling to Himeji. The garden is based on the style of the Edo-era samurai academy, with nine theme parks including the pond and spring garden, tea garden, bamboo forest, pine forest, and flowing water landscape, showing the beauty of the changing seasons.
There is also a tea room in the garden where you can experience matcha, and you can also look at the Himeji Castle tower from the garden. The scenery is elegant and quiet. It is more cost-effective to buy a common ticket with Himeji Castle. It is recommended to arrange a relaxing walk after visiting the castle.
