A windy afternoon in Hiroshima

#August Travel Grant

Walking through Hiroshima, the city's profound stories naturally permeate me. The moment I entered the Peace Memorial Park, I found myself filled with a sense of solemnity, and standing before the Atomic Bomb Dome, the weight of time loomed large. Even within the park, people strolled with smiles, and the sound of children's laughter made me realize just how precious the peace of today truly is.

Walking down an alley, I stumbled upon a small cafe where I could relax with a warm cup of coffee. Even this brief moment of respite from my travels felt special. The Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki I tasted at the market was a delicacy, and eating it with the locals made it even more delicious.

The sunset I saw from the boat heading to Miyajima at dusk was truly spectacular. The torii gate reflected in the crimson sky and sea was a sight I longed to cherish.

Hiroshima was a city that harbored pain, yet also offered hope. On my way back from my trip, I could feel how my day here had warmed my heart.
