Our journey through the Hitachi area began with a peaceful visit to Izumi Shrine—said to be the oldest shrine in the region. Nestled in a lush forest, the grounds feel serene and untouched. What makes this place truly magical is the crystal-clear spring water that flows from the earth. The shimmering blue of the spring is almost unreal, and it’s easy to see why it’s known as a sacred spot.
After paying our respects at the shrine, we made a short stop at Ryujin Suspension Bridge. We didn’t cross this time, but the view alone was worth it. Colorful carp streamers (koinobori) danced in the wind, adding a festive touch to the dramatic valley landscape. Fun fact: you can actually go bungee jumping here if you’re feeling brave!
