Surrounding the lake are lush green peaks and a profusion of flowers and grasses. The air seems to be imbued with the fragrance of trees, flowers, and plants, as well as the purity of the lake water. The lake is dotted with dozens of islands, many of which are submerged by rising and then reappearing when the water recedes, becoming habitats for turtles and soft-shelled turtles. In the valley stands a 214-meter-long, 68-meter-high hollow gravity arch dam. Listening from the dam wall, one hears the sound of gurgling water and the distant roar of drums. Amidst the high gorges, the tranquil lake shimmers with shimmering light. Boating on the lake, listening to the folk songs of southern Henan women rowing the boat, bathed in the sun and gently touched by the lake breeze, one feels a sense of returning to nature.
