Hoi An Old Town Walking Tour – Cafes, Rivers, and a Day of Slow Walking

#Travel itinerary
Hoi An, a small city in central Vietnam, is the perfect city for ‘slow walking.’

A 1-night, 2-day trip is good, but you can fully enjoy its charms even if you only have one day. On this trip, I took my time walking around the old town, visiting cafes, and even the Thu Bon River.

---

📍 9:00 AM – Entering the old town

Hoi An Ancient Town is the most quiet and beautiful in the morning.

Start walking along the alleys lined with yellow walls, red roofs, and traditional houses

A fairytale-like atmosphere thanks to the lanterns, bicycles, and locals in traditional attire everywhere

☕ 10:30 AM – Cafe exploration

Visit Reaching Out Tea House located in a quiet alley inside the Old Town

Order without saying a word, and enjoy a cup of tea while savoring the silence instead of the sound

Recharge your emotions

🍜 12:00 PM – Lunch with local food

A bowl of Cao Lau at a local restaurant inside the Old Town

A traditional local dish with a unique chewy texture, rich soup, and lettuce

🚤 2:00 PM – Thu Bon River walk & boat viewing

Walking slowly near the Thu Bon River

Watching the wooden boats floating on the river and the slowly moving scenery

It was peaceful enough to just walk without taking a boat

🍹 4:00 PM – Second cafe Time

A cup of Vietnamese iced coffee at a cafe along the river

A break to watch people, listen to the sound of motorbikes passing by, and the conversations of locals

🛍 5:30 PM - Souvenir shopping & finishing

Bought handmade lanterns and handkerchiefs while looking around small shops

A short but satisfying day

---

Hoi An was great just walking, sitting, and looking around without a set schedule.

The true charm of Southeast Asia is felt more strongly in these quietly flowing alleys and riversides.
