Walking by Repulse Bay, I saw this unique installation. It turns out it's a work of art. This artwork is actually a landmark for Xiao Hong, a female writer from the Republic of China. Xiao Hong and her husband, Duanmu Hongliang, arrived in Hong Kong. However, Xiao Hong, displaced by the war and unable to receive proper medical treatment for her illness, eventually passed away. Knowing that Xiao Hong loved the sea, Duanmu buried half of her ashes in Repulse Bay. Xiao Hong often compared herself to a flying bird, so the designer chose Repulse Bay, her beloved beachfront, to depict her spirit and aspirations in the form of a bird, symbolizing her freedom to soar.
