Hiking route sharing
First stop: Bogongao
The journey starts from Pak Kong Au, located between Fenghuang Mountain and Dadong Mountain. Here, you can first overlook Tung Chung in the north and Changsha in the south. Next, walk along the Phoenix Trail to Dadong Mountain. This two-kilometer mountain road is the only uphill road in the entire trip and will challenge your endurance. Although it is inevitably tiring, most of the road is shaded by trees. When the big trees on both sides are gradually replaced by shrubs and the view becomes open, it means you are close to the highest point of the road.
Second stop: Dadongshan
At Dadongshan, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the bay and the beach. The Miscanthus trees swaying in the wind along the mountain paths are a famous sight in the highlands of Lantau Island.
The third stop: Rotten Head Camp
Climb to the top of the mountain, and feel the gentle breeze. Stop here for a moment and look at the small stone houses dotted among the mountains. At dusk, this is a great spot to take beautiful IG photos.
Fourth stop: Erdongshan
Continue walking forward, passing the old mountain hut, and then go around the northern foot of Mount Tung, known as the ninth highest mountain in Hong Kong.
Fifth stop: Luditang Watchtower
After passing through the vast picnic area of South Mountain, turn left and enter the ancient trail. Soon, you will see the Luk Tei Tong Watchtower, a historic site built in the early 20th century.
Stop 6: Mui Wo Pier
Walk along the country path for about 15 minutes and you will reach the center of Mui Wo.
