Tsim Sha Tsui Quality Affordable Sukiyaki

When I want affordable yet high-quality sukiyaki, I usually come to Sukiki Kansai. Although there’s no chef to cook for you, for around $200 you can enjoy a large portion of Tokachi A4 Wagyu. Sometimes, cooking it yourself is quite fun. Each set meal includes not only beef but also appetizers, a vegetable platter, rice/udon, and dessert, making it very satisfying. The egg served is the Japanese Ran-Oh egg.

Premium Lean Sukiyaki Set (Regular 120g) $198
I ordered the cheapest set here, which includes 120g of lean Wagyu beef. There are about 4 large slices of lean beef. Although it’s a DIY version, the meat is already very tender, with a rich beef flavor and great texture. Just lightly grill both sides with the sukiyaki sauce and it’s ready to eat.

Beef Chuck Sukiyaki Set (Large 180g) $258
My friend ordered the large beef chuck set, which has noticeably more and evenly distributed marbling. It’s also very tender but with extra richness and a smoother texture. Dipping it in the Ran-Oh egg adds a satisfying egg aroma.

The accompanying vegetable platter is also very generous, including baby bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, tofu, taro strips, fried tofu puffs, green onions, and more. The vegetables are cooked in a different broth, so you can enjoy them after the meat to balance the richness.

For dessert, there’s matcha warabi mochi, which has a chewy texture and a strong matcha flavor.

The restaurant is currently running a promotion: just (i) like/follow "Sukikansai Sukiyaki Kansai" on FB/IG + (ii) upload a food photo to FB/IG + (iii) tag Sukiyaki Kansai in your post/story, and you can get a free glass of white/black draft beer or an additional 40g of lean Wagyu beef. Of course, we meat lovers choose the extra beef.
