🐔Boon Tong Kee (Causeway Bay)
It used to be hard to find affordable home-style meals in Causeway Bay. Today, I planned to eat at Tang Lung Street and came across a restaurant specializing in Hainanese chicken rice. It turns out it has a great reputation—it's the Singaporean powerhouse "Boon Tong Kee," known as "Singapore's No.1 Hainanese Chicken." With over 40 years of history in Singapore, this old brand focuses on authentic Singaporean-Chinese fusion cuisine and is very reasonably priced👍
Today, my friend and I tried the must-order two-person set meal.
For only $328, you can enjoy half a portion of the must-try poached chicken, sweet and sour pork, vegetables or tofu, and two bowls of chicken rice😋
▪️Delicious Poached Chicken (Half)
The must-try poached chicken has crispy skin and tender meat, with a layer of flavorful jelly in the middle. It comes with three homemade sauces: dark soy sauce, spicy chili sauce, and ginger paste, which are appetizing and flavorful, perfectly elevating the chicken's taste.
▪️Chicken Rice (Two Bowls)
Delicious poached chicken must be paired with chicken oil rice. The restaurant uses chewy and soft Thai fragrant rice, infused with chicken broth essence. The chicken oil aroma is strong, oily but not greasy, and each grain is distinct—truly super tasty.
▪️Sweet and Sour Pork (Full Portion)
The sweet and sour pork is crispy and tender, with smaller pieces than usual so you can enjoy it bite by bite. The sweet and sour balance is just right, paired with onions and bell peppers, making it very appetizing.
▪️Sambal Water Spinach (Full Portion)
A meal must have vegetables. The tender water spinach with traditional Singaporean sambal sauce is super flavorful.
▪️Crispy Tofu (6 pieces) $88
The exterior is crispy while the inside remains soft and tender. The tofu’s smooth flavor is preserved with a strong bean aroma, and the fried skin is very thin—truly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
▪️Cordyceps Flower Stewed Pork Spine Soup (Two Bowls) +$58
We also tried the stew. For just an additional $58, you get two bowls. The flavor is rich and feels very nourishing.
