Hong Kong The Banquet Hall Buffet Sha Tin

Tonight I went again to the buffet at The Palate in The Royal Plaza Hotel, New Town Plaza, Sha Tin. The first time I came was with a colleague, and I thought it would be just an average meal for around four hundred HKD, but it turned out to be such great value for money. This time, I brought my friends to enjoy the meal 😎. The restaurant is usually full on weeknights, so remember to book in advance.
🦞 Seafood & Sashimi Section
The seafood selection is abundant, with plenty of crab legs, mussels, and cooked shrimp—no need to fight over them. The crab legs are fresh and sweet; the lobsters are big, rich in roe and meat, eating a few already makes it worth it; the oysters are shucked fresh, tasting sweet, and with a squeeze of lemon juice, they’re even more refreshing. For sashimi, the salmon is fatty and flavorful, the sea bream slices are thick, and the sweet shrimp is full of rich shrimp paste.
🥩 Made-to-Order Meat Section
The freshly carved roast beef is tender and pink, even better with the gravy. The teppanyaki Saga Wagyu beef is tender with a fragrant fat aroma, enhanced by garlic slices and scallions for extra flavor. A must-try is the teppanyaki cheese hamburger steak—the cheese melts perfectly with the aroma of onions, the hamburger patty is very flavorful and juicy, highly recommended! There’s also foie gras toast, rich and oily, you have to have at least one piece~
🍲 Hot Soup
When you’ve eaten quite a bit, have some soup to cut through the richness. The wolfberry chicken soup is served in a ceramic pot, tasting sweet, warming, and comforting.
🍽️ Hot Dishes
Although the hot dishes section isn’t the main highlight, you can tell the hotel carefully selects the dishes. There are specialties from around the world, such as Japanese oden and Nyonya curry dishes, offering a variety of flavors.
🍮 Desserts
The dessert section has various cakes and puddings. I like the freshly baked molten lava cake, and you can even ask the chef to write blessing words with syrup on it, adding a full sense of ceremony. Of course, you have to finish with a cup of Mövenpick ice cream~
My friends said they didn’t expect to find such a high-quality buffet in Hong Kong for just over four hundred HKD. It’s perfect for this seafood lover and meat enthusiast, and they even asked me when we’re coming back next time 🤣.
