A must-try dessert in Hong Kong! The stunning Butterfly Egg Tart from Rosewood tested out

I've long seen the Butterfly Egg Tart from Rosewood Hotel’s Butterfly Patisserie all over Instagram! As someone who’s not really into sweets, the super fairy-like butterfly design immediately won me over~ Walked in around noon, and the shelves were still full of Hokkaido custard tarts. As a taro lover, I also grabbed a taro cake!

Let’s get to the point! The butterfly egg tart is so beautiful you almost don’t want to eat it! The puff pastry has distinct layers, the custard filling is smooth and sweet without being overly sugary, definitely worth picking up if you pass by~ But the taro cake was just average, the taro flavor was quite mild, and the texture wasn’t dense enough 😔 The coffee drinks were pretty standard, but the stir-fried beef ho fun I ordered on a whim was surprisingly good and filling!

However, at HKD 230, it’s not really worth making a special trip 😅 On the bright side, the cocktail menu is reasonably priced, so I want to try their cocktails next time! Remember there’s a 10% service charge~ In summary: the egg tart looks better than it tastes, good for a casual photo stop, but not worth a special trip!
