One of Hong Kong's greatest landmarks is the Tian Tan Buddha, commonly known among Thais as the "Lantau Big Buddha." It is located atop Ngong Ping Hill on Lantau Island and is one of the largest outdoor bronze Buddha statues in the world.
The statue stands over 34 meters tall and weighs more than 250 tons, sitting prominently amidst the mountains, surrounded by nature and the ancient Po Lin Monastery. The impressive experience begins with climbing 268 steps to pay respects to the Big Buddha. Once at the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains—peaceful, beautiful, and strangely sacred.
It is recommended to take the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, which features a glass-bottomed Crystal Cabin, offering breathtaking views of the sea, mountains, and Hong Kong airport along the 25-minute journey.
