Yongle Ancient Castle, located in Yongle Township, in the eastern suburbs of Guiyang City, was built during the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty ( 1403-1424 ) as a garrison. Its layout is arranged in the shape of a Bagua (Eight Diagrams) diagram, with inner and outer walls and four gates in the east, south, west, and north. It covers an area of ​​16,800 square meters and has a built area of ​​8,500 square meters. The remaining west gate and sections of the city wall (low wall) are 1,650 meters long, 3 meters high , and 2 meters thick .

The ancient castle is generally divided into two parts: the inner castle and the outer castle, each of which has magnificent buildings and walls (city walls). The inner city wall is built around the top of Yongle Mountain, and the inner castle is the part surrounded by the inner city wall.
