Perched on Lantau Island, the Tian Tan Buddha is one of Hong Kong’s most iconic landmarks. But on the day I visited, a thick veil of fog wrapped around the statue and the nearby Po Lin Monastery, turning the whole scene into something straight out of a fairy tale.
🌿 What to See & Do
✔ Climb the 268 Steps 🏃♀️ – A bit of a workout, but the view (when the fog clears!) is worth it.
✔ Po Lin Monastery 🏯 – A stunning Buddhist temple, peaceful and ornate.
✔ Lotus Pond & Gates 🌸 – Beautiful details that add to the spiritual atmosphere.
✔ Ngong Ping Village 🍵 – Grab some local snacks or tea before heading back.
✨ Quick Tips
✔ Weather adds magic! Fog makes it mystical, while clear days offer sweeping views.
✔ Arrive early to avoid crowds.
✔ Take the Ngong Ping Cable Car 🚠 – A scenic ride with breathtaking panoramas.
Even though I missed the wide-open mountain views, the fog gave Tian Tan Buddha an ethereal, almost otherworldly feel—like stepping into an ancient legend.
