Founded in 1945, the Thai brand #ChaTraMue has opened its first cafe in Sha Tin, so we decided to give it a try.
The staff thoughtfully recommended seating away from the air conditioning vents for the waffles and shrimp cakes.
After ordering, we started with drinks. The waffles were attracted by the pandan green pearls, so we ordered the Thai Pandan Pearl Rose Milk Tea ($42), a very unique combination. The pandan green pearls emit a fragrant pandan aroma and have a chewy texture. The shrimp cake’s Thai Yuan Yang ($42) was deliciously chilled.
For the main course, we ordered the Thai Angus Beef Pho ($88). As soon as it arrived, the aroma was irresistible. The broth is made from beef bones and brisket, clear and sweet without being greasy.
The portion and quality of the Angus beef were very satisfying.
The shrimp cake ordered the Thai Tom Yum Shrimp Spaghetti ($108), which was tangy, spicy, and very flavorful.
Recently, I’ve been under a lot of work pressure and needed some desserts to relieve stress. I originally planned to choose one, but ended up ordering both. The first was the Thai Tea Mille Crepe Cake ($65). The mille crepe cake was well made, with thin crepe layers sandwiching smooth cream, not too sweet or greasy. Drizzled with Thai tea sauce, it enhanced the tea flavor, paired with crispy caramel crunch, adding more texture and flavor layers.
The second was the Thai Tea Soufflé Pancake ($88), made to order. Under the Thai tea sauce were two pieces of soufflé pancakes, still warm when served, soft in texture, a top-quality dish.
