📝 Gliding into Nature: My First SUP Trip in Sai Kung

#hkwatersports
I recently tried Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) for the first time in Sai Kung, and it turned out to be one of the most peaceful and refreshing experiences I’ve had in Hong Kong. 🌿🌊

📍 Getting There

I took the MTR to Hang Hau Station, exited at B1, then hopped on the green minibus 101M straight to Sai Kung town. From there, it was just a short walk to the beachside rental shops at Sha Ha Beach — the perfect SUP launch spot.

🚌 Total travel time: ~40 minutes
💰 Cost: Around HK$20 for transport

💸 Rental & Gear

At the beach, I rented a paddleboard from a local shop for HK$150/hour, which included a life vest and quick instructions. The staff were super friendly and helped me launch from the calm, shallow waters.

🏄♂️ The Experience

Standing on the board was easier than I expected! The sea was calm, the sun was warm, and the water was crystal clear. I paddled past small boats and floating fish farms, surrounded by green hills and islands in the distance. 🌄

The best part? The total peace and quiet. It felt like I was floating in a painting — no city noise, no rush, just the sound of the paddle hitting the water.

🌞 Tips for First-Timers
• Go early in the morning (before 11am) for calm water and cooler temps
• Wear quick-dry clothes, bring sunblock and waterproof phone pouch
• Take breaks on the board and enjoy the view — don’t rush!
• No experience needed — it’s perfect for beginners 🙌
