📝 Under the Surface: My Scuba Adventure in Clearwater Bay

#hkwatersports

Most of my water adventures happen above the surface, but this time, I decided to explore what’s underneath — so I signed up for a scuba diving discovery course in Clearwater Bay. Turns out, the ocean floor is like a whole new world. 🌊✨

📍 Getting There
• Took the MTR to Po Lam Station
• From there, hopped on green minibus 103 to Clearwater Bay Second Beach
• A short walk led to the dive centre right by the shore

⏱️ Travel time: ~50–60 mins from Central
💰 Transport cost: ~HK$25

💸 Price & Course Details

I booked a Discover Scuba Diving session with a PADI-certified dive centre.
💰 Price: HK$1,200 per person
• Includes full gear (wetsuit, tank, mask, fins), instructor, and insurance
• Session length: ~3 hours (1 hour briefing & practice, 2 dives)

🐠 The Experience

On Land: The instructor patiently explained the gear, safety signals, and how to breathe underwater (yes, it’s weird at first).
In the Water: We started in shallow water to practice — clearing the mask, equalising pressure, and getting used to the regulator.

Once we swam deeper, I felt like I’d stepped into an aquarium. Schools of silvery fish darted past, soft corals swayed gently, and I even spotted a shy pufferfish hiding near some rocks.

The silence underwater was magical — just the sound of my own bubbles. It was calm, slow, and strangely meditative.

⚠️ Tips for First-Timers
• Don’t rush — relax your breathing
• Equalise early and often to avoid ear discomfort
• Bring a towel and warm clothes for after the dive
• Eat light before diving (trust me)

⭐ Final Thoughts

Scuba diving in Clearwater Bay gave me a glimpse into Hong Kong’s hidden underwater beauty. It’s not just for tropical islands — right here, the marine life is surprisingly rich and the experience unforgettable.

Next time, I’m thinking of getting fully certified so I can dive deeper and longer. 🤿💙
