This restaurant specializes in individual hot pots, allowing each person to choose their preferred soup base and meat. The set meal also includes a vegetable platter (featuring items like baby cabbage, pumpkin, enoki mushrooms, etc.) and a choice of staple (ramen, udon, or white rice), with portions that are more than sufficient.

I went with a friend, and I chose the sukiyaki soup base. The staff first sautéed the pot with lard before adding the sukiyaki sauce, releasing an irresistible aroma. Cooking A4 lean wagyu in it was simply divine—the marbling was beautiful, the meat tender and flavorful, soaking up the sauce perfectly. My friend opted for the Hokkaido curry soup base paired with pork belly. The soup was mildly spicy and aromatic, while the pork had a balanced fat-to-lean ratio, making it incredibly satisfying.

Overall, Tanukikoji offers fresh ingredients, distinctive soup bases, good service, and reasonable prices. It's definitely a restaurant worth bookmarking!
