Salt works in Hong Kong in the past

Yim Tin Tsai was a former salt production site in Hong Kong and is also known as one of the birthplaces of Catholicism in Hong Kong. Most residents on the island are Catholics. In recent years, Yantianzi has actively developed conservation and heritage. The Salt Light Conservation Center on the island was established in 2011, responsible for promoting the historical culture and ecological conservation of Yantianzi Village to tourists. Moreover, Yim Tin Tsai is only a 15-minute boat ride from the center of Sai Kung, and there are frequent boat trips during holidays, so many tourists go there. The island's attractions include the only remaining salt pans in Hong Kong, the Salt Conservation Center, St. Joseph's Chapel, Cheng Bo School, mangroves and the Jade Belt Bridge.
