#summervacay
Here's your guide for a fantastic day trip to Nanxun Ancient Town from Shanghai!

Nanxun Ancient Town

From the South Gate, you can easily take the 3 JPY boat ride, which is a great way to start without retracing your steps. The ancient town isn't huge, but it's incredibly charming and full of character.

Xiaolianzhuang (Little Lotus Garden): This is one of Nanxun's must-visit spots, a private garden belonging to Liu Yong, the wealthiest of Nanxun's "Four Elephants" from the late Qing Dynasty. Xiaolianzhuang is centered around a lotus pond, with pavilions and towers built along its edges, creating truly picturesque scenery. 🌸
Jiayetang Library: The Jiayetang Library is a renowned private library from modern Chinese history, and one of the most well-preserved private libraries in China. It houses a vast collection of ancient texts and rare books, making it a wonderful place to learn about traditional Chinese culture. 📚
Baijianlou (Hundred Houses Street): Baijianlou features Nanxun Ancient Town's distinctive residential architecture, built continuously along the river – a truly magnificent sight!
Zhang Shiming's Former Residence: This was the home of Zhang Shiming, another of Nanxun's "Four Elephants." It's a fascinating blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles, combining traditional Chinese elements with European Renaissance features. 🏛️
4. Lunch

There are plenty of restaurants and snack shops within the ancient town where you can try local specialties. I highly recommend trying Nanxun Pig Knuckle (Nanxun Tipang), Xunji Noodles, and Shuangjiao Noodles. 🍜

5. Return to Shanghai

Take a long-distance bus from Nanxun Ancient Town Bus Station back to Shanghai South Station.
