No admission fee forever, thumbs up for Nanxun, the water town of Jiangnan!

Nanxun is one of the six major ancient water towns in Jiangnan and is highly representative among the many water towns in the Yangtze River Delta region. Unlike most Jiangnan water towns that require tickets for entry, Nanxun has solemnly promised free admission since 2023, with only six cultural and historical sites inside, such as Xiaolian Manor, requiring separate tickets for visits.

Here, there are more than 1,300 buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a strong atmosphere of local life, authentically continuing the daily rhythm of water town residents, perfectly meeting people’s expectations of an ancient Jiangnan town. Especially worth mentioning is Nanxun’s water bus—only 3 yuan is needed to take it from Silk Wharf to Xiaolian Manor Wharf, connecting the core scenic spots of the ancient town along the way, with the freedom to get on and off at will. Such an affordable ticket price is very rare among water town scenic areas in Jiangnan and even nationwide.

This initiative has greatly enhanced the attractiveness of Nanxun tourism, making us unable to help but give it a thumbs up.
