🏘️ Unique Architectural Style

What sets Nanxun apart from other water towns is its blend of traditional Chinese and Western architecture. Many of the mansions and gardens were built by wealthy Chinese merchants who had studied abroad or traded internationally, and they incorporated European elements into traditional Chinese design.

Highlights:

Liu’s Garden (Little Lotus Garden - 小莲庄): A private garden built by a silk merchant, combining a traditional Chinese garden with a Western-style library and lake pavilion.
