Yamakawa Port Fish Center (Roadside Station Yamakawa Port, Lively Sea Road) in Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture, is a gourmet spot where you can enjoy the fresh seafood you'd expect from a port town. 🐟
I visited at lunchtime, and the "Warm Tamaran Donburi" (Warm Tamaran Bowl) at the market restaurant was a perfect combination of the savory flavor of bonito and the mellowness of the onsen egg. It brought a smile to my face. ✨
The center is filled with fresh fish like bonito and amberjack, as well as processed seafood products like satsumaage (deep-fried fish cakes) and bonito flakes.
The "Taiyaki-style Bonito Flakes" in particular are exquisite, with their homemade filling made from Ibusuki-grown broad beans and Annou sweet potatoes, making them the perfect souvenir. 🎁
Enveloped in the aromas of a port town and the warmth of its people, this gourmet trip was a feast for all five senses.
