📣📣 1. Get a T-money card 🎫
Works on subways, buses, some taxis, and even convenience stores. Rechargeable and super convenient.
2. Download key apps 📱
• Naver Maps or KakaoMap: More reliable than Google Maps in Korea.
• Papago: Excellent for real-time translation.
• KakaoTalk: Korea’s go-to messaging app.
• Subway Korea: For easy subway navigation.
🍜 Food Tips
3. Eat local, skip the international chains 🍲
Try street food in Myeongdong, barbecue in Hongdae, and traditional meals in Insadong. Don’t miss Gwangjang Market for bindaetteok (mung bean pancake) and mayak kimbap!
4. Most restaurants bring water and side dishes for free. No need to order drinks — help yourself from the water station.
💵 Money & Shopping
5. Bring a debit/credit card with low foreign fees 💳
Korea is mostly cashless, especially in Seoul. But small markets still prefer cash.
6. Tax refunds are easy 🛍️
Look for stores with “Tax-Free” signs, and use kiosks at the airport or in major malls to get your VAT refund.
🚇 Transport Tips
7. Subways are super clean and efficient 🚇
Avoid rush hours (8–9:30 AM, 5–7 PM). The announcements are in Korean and English.
8. Taxis are cheap compared to other big cities 🚕
Use Kakao T app to book — some drivers don’t speak English, so apps are safer and easier.
📍 Hidden Gems & Cultural Tips
9. Go beyond the obvious
• Visit Ikseon-dong Hanok Village for charming cafés and local art.
10. Respect the local etiquette 🙇

• Use both hands when giving/receiving things.
• Don’t speak loudly on public transport.
• Take off shoes when entering traditional homes.
