A Day Trip to Itoshima

A must-visit spot in Itoshima is the iconic white torii gate, located about a 40-minute drive from Fukuoka City. If you arrive early, you can usually avoid the crowds. Besides the white torii gate, the Meoto Iwa (Married Couple Rocks) is another nearby attraction worth visiting. There are plenty of parking lots in the area, typically charging a flat fee.

For lunch, you can drive about 20 minutes to Ichiran no Mori, where you can not only enjoy their famous ramen but also explore this "secret base" to learn about Ichiran's history and watch the noodle-making process. Ichiran no Mori offers free parking.

On the western side of Itoshima, there's a delightful treat you shouldn't miss: the salted pudding from "Mataichi no Shio." Savoring the creamy pudding with a hint of saltiness while enjoying the sea breeze is a perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. This pudding shop is about a 20-minute drive from Ichiran no Mori. The shop has around 10 parking spaces, but there's often a queue. If you prefer not to wait, you can park in a nearby paid parking lot for a flat fee of 300 yen. Whether you choose free or paid parking, you'll need to walk 5-8 minutes to reach the pudding shop. Besides the pudding, there are also many great photo spots in the area.
