If you only have one day in Kamakura, here's how to spend it!
Blue skies ☀️Sea 🌊Sunset 🌅are always synonymous with romance, and Kamakura has it all.
Kamakura is a truly worthwhile destination when the weather is good, and it's one of the places I'll definitely be returning to after my second visit to Japan!
If you're in Kamakura for a day trip like me, you can refer to my itinerary—you'll still be able to spend a full day!
While Kamakura is most famous for Kamakura Kokōmae Station, there are similar level crossings nearby that offer great photo opportunities and are less crowded.
In fact, Kamakura is more about just wandering around. Strolling through its narrow streets and along the seaside is the true way to experience Kamakura!
📍Kamakura Komachi-dori
This is a shopping street in Kamakura, located near Enoden Kamakura Station. It's a must-see for first-time visitors to Kamakura. For those who enjoy shopping or want to visit nearby attractions, this is a great place to visit.
📍Kamakura Great Buddha
Enoden🚃Hase Station is a 7-minute walk away. This iconic spot is one of Kamakura's most iconic attractions, and Hase-dera Temple is also located at the same station.
📍Inamurasaki Seaside Park
Enoden🚃Inamurasaki Station is a 5-minute walk away. This often overlooked spot is perfect for a relaxing break. There's a lawn to relax on, and from here you can see Enoshima Island and, with a bit of luck, even Mount Fuji🗻.
📍Nanarigahama
Exit Enoden🚃Nanarigahama Station and walk directly to the beach. From here, you can walk directly down to the beach, offering a close-up view of Inamurasaki. Watching the sunset while walking on the waves is incredibly romantic.
📍Kamakura Kokōgōmae
Exit Enoden🚃Kamakura Kokōgōmae Station and this is a 2-minute walk away. This is the same camera spot as the famous Slam Dunk, but unfortunately, it's too crowded. Actually, walking west from this spot to another level crossing gives you a similar shot, but with fewer people.
📍Enoshima
Enoshima Station on the Enoden Railway. From here, you can see the scenery of Kamakura. If you have the time, Enoshima is well worth a visit.
This time, I walked all the way from Inamurasaki to Kamakura High School. It's a bit of a distance, but the experience was wonderful!
If you follow the itinerary, you'll be able to travel all the way from Kamakura Station to Enoshima Station, effectively skipping the entire Enoshima Electric Railway. Of course, if you're staying in Kamakura for a few days, you can explore more freely and explore less crowded areas. 🌊
Transportation🚃
If you're departing from Shinjuku or nearby, you can purchase the Kamakura-Enoshima Amazing Pass at the Odakyu Visitor Center or a ticket machine. This passes you round-trip from Shinjuku to Fujisawa in one day, granting you unlimited rides on the Enoshima Electric Railway and the Odakyu Line from Fujisawa to Enoshima Station. The fare is 1,640 yen, making it a reasonable way to get to Kamakura, considering you'll be riding the Enoshima Electric Railway several times.
Blue skies ☀️Sea 🌊Sunsets 🌅 are always synonymous with romance, and Kamakura has it all.
Kamakura is a must-see when the weather is nice, and it's one of the places I'll definitely be returning to after my second visit to Japan.
