Slowly Following the Breeze: A Journey to Aewol

The sea of Jeju always excites, but Aewol stands out for its calmness. It's neither overly special nor too noisy, making it a place where your heart naturally settles.

🍲 First Meal in Aewol: A Warm Bowl of Momguk

On a breezy morning, I found myself in a quiet alley restaurant enjoying momguk. It looks like sea urchin seaweed soup but offers a deeper, richer flavor that warms the soul. A spoonful of rice mixed into the hot broth melted away the fatigue and the Aewol breeze. The honest taste felt like it was made by a local grandmother, making me think, "Jeju's food and wind are both so kind."

🛏️ Checking into the Accommodation: Sea Outside the Window, Tangerine Mochi in Hand

The accommodation was a small standalone house by the Aewol seaside. Opening the window revealed a vast blue sea and swaying silver grass in the breeze. The scenery was enough without needing to do anything. Sitting on the sofa, I unpacked the tangerine mochi I had bought earlier. The soft rice cake filled with tangy tangerine jam burst with Jeju's sunshine in every bite.

🍡 A Quiet Afternoon with Omegitteok

Dessert was omegitteok, a chewy millet rice cake filled with sweet red bean paste and coated with powdery soybean flour. Each bite was nutty and sweet. As I nibbled on the rice cakes, I gazed out the window. The sea was quiet, the sky moved slowly, and simply breathing and sitting felt enough.

☁️ Aewol: A Place Where Doing Nothing is Perfectly Fine

This trip had no special plans or must-visit spots. Just a bowl of momguk, two rice cakes, and quiet conversations with the sea and wind. Aewol is a place that says, "It's okay to slow down a little." Such a comforting town.
