Sheraton Jinan Hotel: An Experience of Luxury and Shortcomings

I recently traveled to Jinan and stayed at the Sheraton Jinan Hotel. I truly felt the warmth and hospitality of Shandong people and experienced the hotel's unique features.

🏘️Room Type/Layout:
The hotel is located in the Jinan Olympic Sports Center area, a prime location. It's incredibly convenient for those attending concerts. It's also not far from the Thousand Buddha Mountain scenic area, about a 15-minute taxi ride away. During the Lunar New Year, I happened upon a temple fair and experienced the rich folk customs. From Thousand Buddha Mountain, it's only a 10-minute taxi ride to Daming Lake, where you can also check out the Xia Yuhe lotus lanterns. The hotel is about 25 km from the airport.

Due to a minor issue during check-in and the hotel being fully booked, I unexpectedly received a hidden room type – a 200-square-meter Hospitality Suite, second only to the Presidential Suite and not usually available to the public. The bedroom in this suite features a four-poster bed, exuding grandeur. The living room has a home theater system, and the decor includes items that seem like the owner's private collection, adding a touch of class. A refrigerator and a small kitchen counter are also provided for guests' convenience. The dining area has a large round table in an open and spacious setting, with windows overlooking the Olympic Sports Center CBD. The night view of the light show is particularly stunning.

🛌Amenities/Facilities:
The room is fully equipped, and the huge jacuzzi tub is a real eye-catcher. It feels like it could easily accommodate three to five people at once. The bathroom thoughtfully provides bath sponges, a nice touch. However, the hotel has been open for over a decade, and some facilities appear dated. The gym and pool not only look old but also have a strong odor.

🧹Soundproofing/Cleanliness:
The soundproofing is excellent. I could barely hear any noise from outside, ensuring a quiet resting environment.

💗Other Tips:

1. Transportation advice: Getting to the hotel from Jinan Airport isn't very convenient. If possible, choose high-speed rail over flying. However, the airport now has subway access. You can take the subway to the nearby Olympic Sports Center station and then take a taxi to the hotel.
2. Service experience: Although there were some minor hiccups during check-in, such as the initially assigned room having a low-battery door lock that wouldn't open, the hotel later compensated by upgrading me to the suite. Overall, there's room for improvement in service. If the hotel could put more effort into room maintenance and service management, it would undoubtedly enhance the guest experience.

In summary, the Sheraton Jinan Hotel has its unique luxurious aspects, such as the spacious suites and beautiful views, but there are also areas that need improvement. I hope the hotel continues to get better.
