Lishui is truly a hidden gem for travelers. Nearby towns like Songyang and Jinyun are perfect spring/summer getaways, but today I want to take you somewhere even more special—
a thousand-year-old untouched temple hidden deep in the mountains: Shisi Temple.

At the entrance, a lone, weathered tree lies across the gate like a frozen doorway in time. I wonder… what kind of souls are drawn to such quiet, soul-soothing places?

About the Temple
Located on Baixiang Mountain, over 1000 meters above sea level
Originally built during the Southern Song Dynasty
Structures like the main gate, bell tower, main hall, Sanqing Hall, Ma Xian Palace, and the Mei family ancestral shrine still stand
The entire complex is beautifully preserved with a “repair-as-it-was” approach
Here, time seems to blur—ancient firs and cypresses tangle with the wooden architecture, moss creeping along rooftops and beams. It’s like stepping into a time capsule.
